Router Bits on Rails Under the Router Table

The bits you want are always the ones across the shop. This user’s answer was to put them under the tool that uses them.

Under my router table I used Sys rails to make a simple cabinet to hold 2 Systainers of router bits. It’s handy having everything right there!

The cabinet is exactly as simple as that sounds: a plywood box screwed into the space under the router table, with a set of Systainer³ Rails on each side so the cases slide in and out like drawers.

Two Systainer³ M 137 cases fill it, each with a printed label on the front. One holds the bits reached for daily — straight, chamfer, round over, bearing — and the other holds specialty profiles: bullnose, lock miter, slot. The bits stand upright in SYS-Inserts bits inserts, which is what keeps a shank from rolling into its neighbor’s carbide every time the case moves.
